Docking at Villefranche – Sur – Mer

Villefranche - Sur - Mer

The Independence anchor out in the Mediterranean ocean. The cruise-liner was far too big  – Docking at Villefranche – Sur – Mer as it is a small Harbour Port. This meant that we had to get a tender (smaller boat) to get to their Harbour. Getting the best photos of the stunning views. Of the mountains and coastal lines in Villefranche – Sur – Mer from the tender. The journey will take about 5-10 minutes. Coming out of the small tender port, you will first notice the old and colourful buildings. Instantly I felt that time had stopped. Transporting me back in time to an old James Bond film. You will find a small Market, Boutique Shops and Restaurants.

Villefranche - Sur - Mer

There is a lovely beach that is a 10-15 minute walk from the small tender port. This means there is no need for a taxi or train transfer. The beach appears to be quite popular among the local residents. The beach has no dogs and no smoking policy, this is fabulous as this keeps the beach super clean.

THE BEAUTIFUL BEACH

Please beware that in the summer months, the beach can get overcrowded. People did take their own beds and umbrellas down to the beach. We used The Independence pool towels from cruise-liner, to lay on the sand. The sea was amazing you could see the bottom and the small fish swimming around your leg. Having teenagers they were eager to buy snorkels, that cost €14.00 each. They were worth the money as they enjoyed themselves for hours in the sea.
Wearing beach shoes or sandals is advised because certain spots can get a bit rocky. But, most of the beach is covered by soft sand that stays fairly cool throughout the day. The sand slopes down to the water. Laying down on the sand after a “period” of time, you may get a sore back.

DELI BO, BEACH CLUB

Only one Beach Club at Villefranche – Sur – Mer called Deli Bo. Not wanting to lay on the sand and need shade. At Deli Bo you can book a longer an umbrella for shade. Arriving at the beach club, walking down the wooden step to the decking and entering the bar area. The whole club is mainly white, giving a chic and sleek look to the beach club. Asking at Deli Bo “if there were any beds available”, To our disappointment they were fully booked. The Beach Club has waiter service and restaurant on site.
Deli Bo does not have a website, only Facebook or Instagram and a contact number and email links below.

LA TERRASSE RESTAURANT

Villefranche - Sur - Mer

This was our second time that we have eaten in this wonderful restaurant, called La Terrasse. The ladies from La Terrasse that look after us are always welcoming and friendly.
Stepping up to the restaurant holding onto the handrail. You will find the terrace restaurant with incredible views over the bay. Ordering some drinks for everyone, and a couple of the men ordered some beers. You can see the size of the beer in the picture below. They only manage to drink one. (“wonder why!”)
Finding lots of different foods on the menu. At La Terrasse, like Fresh Lebanese, Fish, Shellfish, Salads, to the firm favourites, burgers and Pizzas. I went for a pizza, which was huge. Most of the table went for the mussels and fries.  The food came out of the kitchen piping hot, and our waitress had a smile on her face. The whole table was happy with their lunch. We all like to say a huge thank you to La Terrasse.
